Skin Fade

A skin fade starts at the skin and climbs through every guard in order, so the change in length is gradual enough that you cannot point at where it happens. Most of the work is the blending, not the cutting, which is why it is booked for forty-five minutes rather than twenty.

What’s included

  • Razor line-up at the temples and neck
  • Hot towel finish
  • Styled with product, and told which one

Who it’s for

Short sides that need to look sharp for two or three weeks, and anyone who has had a fade that looked good from the front and banded at the back.

Keeping it

A fade is at its best for about two weeks and readable for three. If you want it tight for a particular day, book two or three days before, not the morning of.

Skin Fade — questions

How short is a skin fade?
It starts at bare skin at the bottom and blends up. Where it stops is your call — low, mid or high — and the barber will show you on your own head before starting.
How often should I get a skin fade?
Every two to three weeks keeps it sharp. Past four weeks the blend has grown out and it is effectively a different cut.
Is a skin fade the same as a taper?
No. A taper leaves length at the bottom and shortens gradually; a skin fade goes all the way down to the skin. A taper grows out more forgivingly.

Booking takes about a minute and you can pick your barber and your time. If you would rather just turn up, mornings before eleven are your best chance of a free chair.
